The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the World Health Organization will hold two international conferences on health security, at the Grand Hyatt Seoul from Wednesday to Friday, the ministry said.

The two conferences – the Global Health Security Meeting (GHS) and the Global Health Security Agenda Steering Group Meeting (GHSA) – are the most important international consultative forums in the area of health security, it said.

About 150 health security experts from more than 40 countries, eight international organizations, and non-government organizations will attend the conference to discuss financing for persistent infectious diseases and multidisciplinary cooperation to strengthen health security. The experts will gather to share best practices and examples of combating infectious diseases.

Minister of Health and Welfare Park Neung-hoo will attend the WHO GSH opening ceremony, his first international event after taking office on Monday.

“I am delighted to attend the international WHO conference as my first event as the minister and hope that the ministry works in close collaboration with WHO to respond to infectious diseases and promote global health,” Minister Park said.
