HK inno.N has teamed up with T&R Biofab to test the efficacy of its skin disease drugs and pharmaceutical substances using the artificial skin made with three-dimension (3D) bioprinting technology.

T&R Biofab will develop 3D-printed artificial skin that satisfies its partnering company. HK inno.N plans to verify the efficacy of its new therapies for autoimmune and skin diseases under development by applying them to the artificial skin.

HK inno.N has signed an agreement with T&R Biofab to develop skin disease drugs and pharmaceutical substances by using its partner’s 3D-printed artificial skin. (HK inno.N)

The 3D-printed artificial skin has emerged as a technology to replace animal testing recently.

HK inno.N will assess the efficacy of its new drug substance for skin disease by applying them to the artificial skin developed similar to real skin.

T&R Biofab's 3D-printed artificial skin has a similar structure and function to that of the real skin. It can measure skin elasticity, aging indicators, and protein expression.

"HK inno.N and T&R Biofab will use the artificial skin in joint research to test the efficacy of drugs for skin diseases and apply it to developing health foods and cosmetic ingredients," said Go Dong-hyun, head of the research center at HK inno.N.

T&R Biofab CEO Yoon Won-soo said, "The joint research with HK inno.N will be a significant event for commercializing our 3D-printed skin and related drug screening technology."
