Korea's new Covid-19 cases declined on Thursday as the number of locally transmitted patients dropped down to a single-digit.

The nation reported 20 new virus cases -- nine local infections and 11 foreign arrivals -- raising the cumulative caseload to 14,519 as of midnight Thursday.

Forty-two more people recovered, pushing the number of cured patients to 13,501, with 696 receiving treatment. The virus claimed one patient's life, pushing up the death toll to 302. The nation has tested 1,613,652 suspected patients since Jan. 3.

All of the new local cases occurred in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province.

The number of local infections decreased sharply from the 23 confirmed cases on Thursday. The community spreads but fell to single-digit in four days. In Seoul, two additional quarantined people linked to the case of the café and restaurant tested positive on Thursday.

Of the 11 imported cases, four patients were from the U.S., three from Iraq, and one from Kazakhstan, Russia, Hong Kong, and Ethiopia. The total number of foreign arrivals has exceeded 2,500.

The number of foreign arrivals also fell from the previous day. Still, it remained at double-digits, continuing for 43 days since June 26.

By nationality, five were Koreans, and six were foreigners. Five of them tested positive in the screening process at either an airport or a seaport. The other six were confirmed while under self-quarantine, according to the KCDC.

Health officials said Friday that the 216 Korean workers in Iraq who first returned homeland on July 24 were discharged from quarantine at temporary living facilities.

Among the 293 Koreans who returned from Iraq, 77 tested positive during the screening process at the immigration and received treatments in medical institutes, including the National Medical Center.

Of the 216 isolated Korean workers, two were transferred to medical institutions after showing positive responses to the diagnostic tests conducted before leaving the temporary living facilities. The rest of the 214 tested negative and were discharged.

The government has decided to lift restrictions on entry and visa-related measures applied to the Hubei Province, China, the origin of Covid-19, from Aug. 10.
