The “6th AP VALVES 2017,” an international symposium on heart valve arthroscopy, will open on Aug. 16 for a three-day run at Hotel Grand Walker Hill Seoul, organizers said Wednesday.

CardioVascular Research Foundation (CVRF) will host the annual event under the sponsorship of Heart Institute of Asan Medical Center.

This year, the international conference will share the latest medical knowledge on heart valve disease and help participants learn the most recent techniques from world-class scholars, making it an educational venue for heart valve intervention that represents the Asia-Pacific region.

Eberhard Grube (Germany), Raj Makkar (U.S.), Alan C. Yeung (U.S.), Darren L. Walters (Australia), Professors Park Seung-jung, Park Duk-woo, and Ahn Jung-min from the Heart Institute of Asan Medical Center will attend the symposium. About 300 experts, cardiologists, and related workers from 16 countries will also participate in the conference.

Professor Park Seung-jung (at center of the screen) of Asan Medical Center conducts a live demonstration during the 5th AP VALVES held in 2016.

On Aug. 16, the conference will share the latest technique through lectures and discussions on various artificial stent valvuloplasty, including basic knowledge, tricuspid valve, and mitral valve, focusing on percutaneous aortic valve stenting.

From Aug. 17-18, Asan Medical Center, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University in China, and the Heart Center Bonn University Hospital in Germany will provide more in-depth education through live demonstrations and practical discussions.

The live demo session will share the latest trends such as the step-by-step application of the minimally invasive procedure. Through the actual case presentation sessions, the participants will be able to learn expert know-how and the latest knowledge.
