MSD Korea has newly appointed key executives to lead each business unit before the spinoff of products for women’s health under a new company name Organon.

On Wednesday, the company announced to its employees through an e-mail that it scouted Lee Hee-seung as External Affairs Lead. Lee, a former head of marketing at the Korean and Mongolian branch of Visa, is to join MSD Korea on July 15.

She leads the External Affairs Lead consisting of Policy Lead, Market Access Lead, and Communications Lead. The three teams are headed by Director Lee Ji-hye, Director Kim Eun-sook/Kim Sang-hoon, and Director Kim Min-kyoung.

The outgoing External Affairs Lead Kim So-eun will be in charge of the Organon transition, which will be spun off on July 15.

“Establishing NewCo (Organon) in Korea is a significant priority for the company,” said MSD Korea. “To support this, Director Kim So-eun will be appointed as NewCo Transition Lead.”

MSD plans to start full-scale workforce distribution and recruitment in the third quarter to make Organon operate as an independent unit around February next year.

MSD Korea aims to complete the establishment of the Korean unit of Organon by February next year, which is earlier than the global headquarters’ plan for global Organon. The company will confirm the list of employees to be sent to Organon in the fourth quarter and open the criteria for selection.

The employees' movement will depend on how much the worker deals with Organon products or a leader’s assessment of the need for the employee to move to Organon based on consistent selection criteria, the company said.
