Yuyu Pharmaceutical and SD Biosensor said they would cooperate in exporting the latter's STANDARD M nCoV Real-Time Detection Kit, a piece of Covid-19 test equipment.

Yuyu Pharmaceutical Robert Yu (left) and SD Biosensor CEO Lee Hyo-geun signed a supply agreement of the Covid-19 diagnostic kits, at SD Biosensor headquarters in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, on Wednesday.

The diagnostic kit uses a reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction method that amplifies and diagnoses a specific gene sequence of Covid-19. The method makes it possible to detect the Covid-19 virus quickly.

SD Biosensor obtained emergency use authorization (EUA) for coronavirus tests from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in April. It is one of the six Korean companies that won the nod for the diagnostic kit under the EUA.

"Yuyu will use its global network to export Covid-19 diagnostic kits to the U.S. and expand shipments worldwide," Yuyu CEO Robert Yu said. "We hope that the cooperation of the two companies will help to overcome the worldwide Covid-19 epidemic."
