Huons said Monday that it would export anesthesia and sedatives, such as injections of ketamine hydrochloride, dobutamine hydrochloride, and midazolam, to nations in need of emergency medicines, including Luxembourg.

The Korean pharmaceutical company has supplied ketamine and dobutamine hydrochloride injections to Luxembourg in response to the latter’s request for emergency drugs with some European and Latin American countries, including Belgium and Chile.

The exported drugs are in shortage worldwide and are also used for conservative care of Covid-19.

Ketamine hydrochloride is general anesthesia used in surgery, examination, and surgical procedures, induction of inhalation anesthesia, and supplementary therapy with other anesthetics. The other drug, Dobutamine hydrochloride, is a cardiac stimulant that increases cardiac output during short-term treatment of heart failure, where the force of contraction is reduced due to heart surgery or disease.

Midazolam injection is a benzodiazepine-based hypnotic sedative used to induce sleep or sedation and reduce anxiety. The drug is known to be used to relieve conditions in Covid-19 patients with ventilators.

“We are receiving continuous requests for anesthetics, sedatives and vitamin shots amid rising demand for Covid-19 treatment and immunity enhancement products,” Huons CEO Um Ki-ahn said.
