Lunit, Yongin Severance Hospital to research AI-based medical technologies

Lunit said that it has agreed with Yongin Severance Hospital to conduct further researches on artificial intelligence-based medical technologies.

Under the accord, the two institutions plan to carry out research and development of clinical trial programs in areas such as mammography diagnostic assist system using AI. They expect the cooperation will be of great help in the digital transformation of the medical community.

Yongin Severance Hospital has been using Lunit's AI diagnostic devices to improve imaging accuracy since it first opened on March 1. The equipment used at the hospital includes LUNIT INSIGHT CXR, an AI-based software aid to diagnose lung abnormality, and Lunit INSIGHT MMG, also an AI-based software that assists with diagnosing of breast cancer.

"We are grateful that we can contribute to the digital innovation of Yongin Severance Hospital, which has integrated Yonsei University Medical Center's 136-year history of medical infrastructure," Lunit CEO Suh Beom-seok said. "The company expects it will prove the clinical added value of AI technology through various joint studies."

Yongin Severance Hospital president Choi Dong-hoon also said, "The agreement signed with Lunit will be of great significance to patients and medical staff at Yongin Severance Hospital as AI imaging solutions will increase patient safety and convenience, as well as improve medical staff's work efficiency."
