Medtronic Korea said that the Great Place To Work (GPTW) Institute Korea has awarded it the grand prize among the top 100 great companies to work in Korea this year.

Medtronic Asia-Pacific and Korea President Chris Lee(fourth from left) and employees hold up the Great Place To Work Institute Korea's "2019 top 100 great companies to work in Korea" grand prize, during the 18th Great Place To Work Institute Korea ceremony at the Federation of Korean Industries Hall in Seoul on Wednesday.

Besides, the GPTW designated Medtronic's Asia-Pacific and Korea President Chris Lee as one of the most respected CEOs in Korea, while awarding Lee Sang-soo, Medtronic's director for healthcare economics and government affairs in North Asia, the "GPTW's Innovation Leader" award.

The institute also selected Medtronic Korea's sales training and development manager Irene Lee as one of the top 100 proud working moms in Korea.

"100 Best Companies to Work in Korea" is a list of firms, which have built a unique corporate culture based on trustful management, a GPTW Korea official said.

According to Medtronic Korea, the company scored high in the confidence index evaluation, especially for pride and respect, and promoted sustainable growth by rewarding employees for their capacity development and performance.

"We won high praise for creating good corporate culture," the company said. "One of the programs that took notice of GPTW was Talent X, an international talent exchange program, to help employees grow into global talent," the company said in a press release.

Through this program, the company's employees can enter various regions, including the Asia Pacific and Europe, and experience a broad spectrum of cross-border work to help build their careers, the company added.

Medtronic Korea, a medical equipment maker through the application of bioengineering, also operates a variety of performance-based welfare systems, such as flexible working hours, special leave before and after holidays, and 3 p.m. leave on Friday to help employees balance work and life and work in a freer environment.

"To fulfill the company's mission of reducing pain, restoring health and extending life for patients, we are striving to create a work environment where all employees can work happily and joyfully with trust and respect," Medtronic Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Korea President Chris Lee said

Medtronic Korea has various communication venues to listen to employees' stories and reflect them in the company's policies and aims to provide welfare benefits beyond what the employees expect, Lee added.
