Fresenius Medical Care Korea said that it has launched Sleep•Safe Harmony, an automatic peritoneal dialysis device.

"Easy-to-use Sleep•Safe Harmony helps patients with peritoneal dialysis perform all treatment procedures at home using automated peritoneal dialysis machines," the company said. "The company's device also provides an animation guide that teaches users how to use the machine and allows them to confirm if the treatment process is proceeding as planned."

Such functions can improve the patient's intimacy with the device and the efficiency of patient education, the company added.

While all patients receiving dialysis treatment have chronic kidney disease, their treatment may differ as criteria such as age, height, weight, stage, and residual renal function vary depending on the patient's condition.

The company expects that by considering the individual situation of dialysis patients, it can contribute to improving the quality of life of patients.

When using the Sleep•Safe Harmony device, patients can easily set the dosage, total dose, total treatment time, and glucose profiling of the peritoneal dialysis solution per cycle to their needs.

"The best feature for the newly launched Sleep•Safe Harmony is that patients can easily use the device," said Choi Seong-jin, Fresenius Medical Care Korea's marketing division head. "Notably, the device works quietly and reduces alarms to provide a comfortable bed for dialysis patients who are dialyzed at night."

It also reduces the drainage pain, which is very uncomfortable for patients, and is positioned as an optimal product considering peritoneal dialysis patients, he added.

The Sleep•Safe Harmony device uses Fresenius Medical Care's FlexPoint technology. By providing a variety of settings, this technique improves treatment efficiency through an automatic peritoneal dialysis device and accurately maintains the total prescribed treatment time whenever possible.

Also, it can reduce potential alarms that occur during the automatic peritoneal dialysis treatment and keep the dose prescribed by the medical staff at a maximum within the set range, while preventing overdose and maintaining the efficiency of the dialysis treatment.
