A trainee nursing assistant jumped her death from an apartment in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, leaving a note that she has been having a hard time.

Observers raised suspicion that she might have been bullied at work in a hospital, but police said the cause of her suicide was still unclear.

An officer at the Iksan Police Station told Korea Biomedical Review that the deceased’s boyfriend found the body outside an apartment in Iksan on Friday afternoon and reported the case to the police.

The deceased has been receiving training at a hospital in Iksan to become a nursing assistant.

She mentioned several names of nurses, who were presumed to have bullied her, in a suicide note. She also said she had a hard time in the note.

The police said her note about the bullying alone cannot be the cause of her suicide, citing her medical records at the psychiatry department. The deceased has been receiving mental health treatment since 2014 and was recently admitted to a mental health institution.

“It is clear that she leaped to death, but we can’t conclude that the bullying at the hospital was the reason for the suicide,” a police officer said. “She has records about hospital treatment. Recently, she was admitted to a mental institution. So, we are trying to do an accurate investigation.”
