Rayence unveil new equipment at US conference

Rayence said Monday that it has unveiled a series of new equipment at the 2018 Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA).

The new equipment includes ShezON and three different surgical C-arm detectors.

ShezON is a retrofit detector that upgrades analog-X-ray mammography to full-field digital mammography. The detector can acquire clear images even with low dose by using a complementary metal–oxide–semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor, which is a unique strength of the sensor.

Digital mammography is very important in the diagnosis of breast cancer, as research has shown that the accuracy of digital mammograms is about 30 percent higher than that of analog equipment, the company said.

ShezON is fully compatible with a variety of existing mammography analog devices, which in turn, dramatically lowers the threshold of hospital digital equipment adaptation. Such improvement is due to the automatic x-ray dose adjustment with regards to the patients' breast size, which is essential for analog device compatibility, it said.

The company also expanded the dose search area by 60 percent compared with its competitors, thereby improving diagnostic accuracy.

Rayence’s three surgical C-arm detectors – 6, 9 and 12 inch – are used by doctors in various surgeries from small areas such as wrists to large and complicated regions such as the hip joints and cardiovascular operations.

These products can conduct high-speed shooting of 96 fps (frames per second), three times faster compared to conventional products, while removing the disadvantage of traditional flat C-arm detectors by improving the image quality at low dosage, the company said.
