Genematrix said Monday it has won the government’s approval for NeoPlex STI-7 Plus, a detection kit that can simultaneously detect 12 types of sexually transmitted infectious agents with a single reaction.

The pathogens include Candida vaginitis, genital herpes, ductal hypersensitivity, and syphilis.

Until now, standard test kits could only verify up to seven pathogens and had to conduct two or four tests and integrate the results to confirm the presence of all 12 pathogens.

The company expects that its test kit will drastically reduce the number of diagnoses, equipment, and diagnostic test personnel while providing quick results so that medical workers can conveniently offer treatment prescriptions on the day of the patients’ visit.

Also, not only can the kit detect the pathogens from the suspected infection site but also it allows doctors to confirm diseases from the patient’s urine without having to collect their tissue.

“The company plans to use Neoplex STI-12, the best-in-class performance product of its kind, and OmniPlex-HPV, cervical cancer multi-molecule diagnostic product, to drive the company’s sales in the field of molecular diagnostics,” a company official said.
