GC Wellbeing, a subsidiary of GC, has published a study regarding Laennec’s, its placenta injection, effects on lowering stress levels.

The treatment is an injection approved for improving liver functions in chronic liver disease. Human body hydrolysate, its main ingredient, is effective in improving fatigue.

The study, led by Professor Shim Im-sup at Kyung Hee University, is based on experimental research to compare and analyze stress levels among patients who received Laennec and those who did not. The team found that the drug reduced expression of “NADPH-d,” an oxidative stress index, by about 50 percent.

Also, the team discovered that the drug lowered “floating time,” which shows the patient’s frustration pattern, by 30 percent in an experiment to identify depressive behaviors.

“Through this study, we were able to confirm the anti-stress effect of Laennec,” Professor Shim said. “The team plans to conduct additional studies to apply the drug to other stress-related diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome.”

The results of the research were published in the latest issue of BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
