Bio Korea 2018 and Medical Korea 2018 are set to open its three-day run in COEX, southern Seoul, on May 9.

Hosted by the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI) and North Chungcheong Province, Bio and Medical Korea 2018 meets its 13th anniversary enhancing the status of Korea's bio-healthcare industry through various programs and promoting Korean pharmaceutical and medical device technology to the world.

The exhibition, which involves 600 companies from 45 countries, will offer more than 400 booths, business forums that deal with domestic and foreign companies, conferences where experts in various fields talk about the latest technology trends. The event will also include an “Invest Fair,” where domestic pharmaceuticals and medical device companies meet local and foreign investors.

This year, business delegations from the U.K., Australia, Italy, Sweden and India will attend the event, while governmental officials from Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Mongolia and China will attend the intergovernmental meeting to exchange views on how to enter into the Korean medical industry and attract patients.

The 4th Industrial Revolution Committee, which is under the direct supervision of the president, will also be meeting with officials from the bio-healthcare industry and discuss policy support measures reflecting actual demand.

Organizers expect to attract more than 25,000 visitors this year, including medical professionals and officials representing domestic and international medical associations, who will also participate in seminars and conferences.

“The ministry hopes that many people will participate in the ‘Bio and Medical Korea 2018’ event to experience Korea’s bio-healthcare industry, which has emerged as the leading industry of innovation and the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” Minister of Health and Welfare Park Neung-hoo said.

Opening hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. from Wednesday to Thursday, and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Admission fee is 10,000 won ($9.3).
