The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), a government-funded agency, announced Thursday it will build four public health centers in the Jordan regions of Amman, Tabarbour, and South Al-Twal to better provide health care there.

According to the KOICA, the demand for health care in Jordan is rising with the population growth, as well as with the 1.4 million refugees from Syria. But the quality and supply of public health services are insufficient, and the lack of capacity of the medical personnel to operate the health center is making the operation of the health center more difficult.

KOICA will help build four public health centers worth $5.16 million (5.978 billion won) in the three regions by 2018. The project will include the construction of a health center and medical equipment, dispatch of experts in each field, and invitation to healthcare personnel training to provide health care policy and guidance on hospital operations.

KOICA said it plans to dispatch volunteers and experts to improve post-management and sustainability after the completion of the buildings.
